Your mentors, your peers, and your environment will define your success.
Does your calendar reflect that priority?
It is 50% of the reason why our Levership cohorts experience the success they do when they commit to 12 months of strategy.
2 days a quarter to make the big decisions and commit to the 90 day sprints (IN, ON, Resources) and the 4 week work plan.
1/2 day a month to make sure we’re on track and contend with every distraction and squirrel that pops up. Acknowledge the challenge or opportunity. Understand where it fits in the work.
And recommit to the plan.
The best teams anchor in a weekly cadence to keep themselves focused.
Strategy is not ANOTHER thing. It is the thing that allows you to sort all the things.
Why do you exist?
Where do you play? How do you Win?
How big will you be?
What values will guide the behaviours on the journey?
Where are you now?
What are the brutal facts?
What is the world doing? What is your market doing? What are your internal capabilities?
What is the gap? and the gain (What do we do well, we need to do more of?)?
What one constraint will you remove in the next 90 days?
How will you remove that constraint? A project? some focus with an existing process? Hire or partner?
Schedule it.
Own the pesky details of implementation. It’s fun to ideate. Don’t confuse choosing action with completing the action.
Amateurs talk about Strategy, Professionals know that the value comes from mastering logistics.
For all the leaders out there. Of course, we’d love to help you with strategic execution. But I’m most concerned that you have your own strategic dates anchored.
