You Just Need To Start With One Process.

“Yesterday’s full-day AI workshop with the Halifax Chamber is still sitting with me.

30 business owners. One room. Eight hours.

People came in cautious. A little overwhelmed. Unsure if they were “falling behind.”

They left saying things like this:

“Completely game-changing.”

“I feel a lot less anxious now about falling behind my competitors.”

“I have so much to implement and I can’t wait to do so.”

Here’s what I think happened:

We stopped talking about AI as this overwhelming thing you need to master, and started treating it like what it actually is: an opportunity to amplify the work you’re already doing.

Bruce wrote: “The session gave me the confidence to just start using AI and learn along the way. I don’t need to understand everything about it.”

That’s the unlock.

You don’t need to become an AI expert. You need to know where it fits in your workflow.

Curtis said: “I have tangible takeaways I can apply immediately.”

Danielle: “I can use AI to find and connect with the people to help me grow my business.”

Pam: “I saw more opportunities to use AI in my business.”

The pattern I keep seeing: once people realize AI isn’t about replacing their judgment—it’s about amplifying it—the whole conversation changes.

They go from “I’m behind” to “I see exactly where this fits.”

And that shift? That’s when things start moving.

If you’re sitting on the fence about whether AI is worth figuring out, here’s what I’d say:

You don’t need to wait until you understand it perfectly.

You just need to start with one process. One workflow. One place where you’re doing repetitive work that could be faster.

That’s how everyone in that room is starting. And that’s how momentum builds.

These days leave me so energized! Small business owners that get to integrate right away to create value for their business.

Thank you Becky Davison, MBA, PMP and Patrick Sullivan (who was ther for the whole day and made his board presentation more robust in real time) for working with us to drive AI awareness in the region.
