We were barely above 2m in revenue when I joined EO Atlantic Canada.
Entrepreneurship is the most demanding — and rewarding — personal-development journey I know.
It masquerades as a business pursuit, but the real work is inward: seeing ourselves clearly, refusing to be fooled, and growing so our companies can grow.
That’s why EO matters so much. The candid mirrors held up by my forum, our chapter, and the national/global network have shaped the leader I am today.
Last week, on the Atlantic Business Magazine Top 50 CEO stage, I had the privilege of standing beside two fellow EO members whose work is rewriting the rules in our region:
🔹 Bradley Farquhar — Founder of Purple Cow, taking on the incumbents to deliver faster, fairer broadband across Atlantic Canada. The man is a walking inspiration. Let me give you one story. He decided to swim the English Channel. He didn’t know how to swim. 8 months later, he entered the water off the southern tip of England and finished the day in France. You can’t stop that kind of determination.
🔹 Courtney Sherlock — The incredibly capable CEO of the Halifax Tides. If anyone can build a profitable professional sports franchise, it’s Courtney — and her success means my daughters will grow up in a world where women’s pro sports are simply normal. She has already successfully grown and leads more than 6 vet clinics and has done 7 marathons on 7 continents. Once again you can’t stop that.
Their wins remind me why EO exists: to push boundaries, share hard‑won lessons, and celebrate eachother’s impact. The group is endlessly inspiring. It is my tribe.
