In 2021, we were both nominated for the Halifax Chamber of Commerce business leader of the year. When I looked at what he was doing for the local community, I was blown away.
We found time for dinner not long after. The conversation was easy. His purpose was inspiring. His capabilities were clear. He knew the edges of his own knowledge and his curiosity was palpable. What blew me away was the amount he did for the community – both for the charities he supported but also for the people he helped find their way back to a healthier life.
When you combine purpose, passion, expertise in a few clear domains – health, fitness, marketing, branding – humility, and drive – well that’s a recipe for something quite incredible.
You know when you leave a conversation and you know you want to have another one.
His desire to better understand the mechanics of business. My desire to better understand the intricacies of fitness.
We kept in touch – short but meaningful interactions. He invited me to do an In-Body Scan to help me see my baseline from a new perspective.
And then in the summer of 2023, he called and said I’m starting a new venture. We’re launching an interdisciplinary clinic. At this point, I was extremely interested in the preventative space. We aligned on a business model with two incredible partners – Anthony and Kayley – and we launched Evolve Integrated Health.
We crossed the 1m mark in year one – something only 6% of businesses ever achieve.
And that was only possible because of the brand he had built with his brother over the previous 10 years.
