What Are You Willing to Give Up for Certainty?

What are you willing to give up for convenience and certainty?

Variance, urgency, adaptability, and potential are at the core of the human experience.

We don’t know the problems we’ll face in the future, so we don’t know the skills we’ll need.

And working together to solve those challenges is what makes us human.

As the world attempts to change us into predictable algorithms, I’m seeking ambiguity and uncertainty.

I welcome unpredictability and human ingenuity.

I love the world of small experiments designed to tackle the largest problems at a smaller and more practical level.

After more than two decades of leading change in the private and public sectors, I can attest it is the only type of change that works.

What will and won’t work is frustratingly complex but so are the systems we seek to change for the better.

I’m only halfway through Margaret Heffernan‘s brilliant treatise on navigating the future. The audiobook is a delight to listen too. The enticing British Accent and the beautiful phraseology is pure ear candy – it is poetic. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hit the rewind 30sec just to hear the draw dropping point again. I’ve had to pull over multiple times to take notes.
