The Point of the Infinite Game

You don’t ever win the infinite game.

And “winning” is not the point.

You simply work to be a better version than yesterday.

And that should take the pressure off. The race is long, the obstacles are real, and how you play matters more than what you gain.

It is about being a good ancestor.

It is about recognizing that all we remember are moments. Those curated memories that grow with significance over time.

It is about being present on the journey.

It is about the relationships you invest in along the way.

It is about serving a greater cause – your family, your community, your region, your craft…

It took me a long time to learn this. I still play out too many negative narratives in my mind. And I still struggle to stay present. But day by day it gets a little bit easier.

And that, I think, is the point of the infinite game.
