The -cide part of Decide...

The -cide part of Decide has origins in the death related words of “cut” and “Kill.”

To decide to do something is to actively decide not to do something else.

And the paralysis of indecision is a fatal human flaw.

Our brains have not evolved fast enough to contend with the abduncance a lot of us now enjoy.

To Decide.

And then to Commit in spite of all of the other choices.

Is the first, and most important, routine to embrace if you want to change your life for the better.

Every Sunday, I look forward to a curated set of newsletters I subscribe to. This week Farnam Street‘s Brain Food led me to the orgins of the verb decide. And Adam Grants list of new books ( https://lnkd.in/eRPFkjt ) has a decided theme of eliminating noise and embracing commitment.

Happy Sunday!
