Most strategic sessions, put bluntly, do not result in good strategy.
It is a combination of high-level fluff, a set of rolling forecasts, and a series of competing and disjointed lists of “things we need to do.”
Worse yet, most strategies do not confront “The elephant in the elevator.”
“Amateurs talk about strategy, Professionals talk about logistics.” It is a common axiom in the special forces.
This is not to say professionals do not talk strategy. It means they know true strategic choice is not complete until they have sorted the logistics.
Is your direction clear?
Have you dealt with the brutal truth? Have you found a way to amplify a strength or overcome a critical organizational weakness?
Does everyone know what matters?
Good Strategy is as precious as it is rare.
