Don’t let it build up.
If you’re feeling the emotion today from an interaction…
1. The Event
2. The Significance
3. The Emotion.
Sit with it for 24 hours.
A commitment to this rigour will ensure:
1. You give it time for reflection.
2. You are treating the event instead of assassinating the character of the person.
Too often, people get put in boxes and every interaction serves as further evidence for your feelings.
Lead against your bias.
Treat the event as an event and it completely reframes the moment.
As a leader, you can’t afford to box people into simple characterizations.
We are not the embodiment of our worst or best (inter)action.
You never know what personal battle the other side is facing.
If the relationship matters, give it the energy and time it deserves.
