The World Economic Forum just told us 170M jobs will be created and 92M will be lost by 2030.
Elon says the opposite. Here’s what I think matters.
Historically, technology has always created more jobs than it destroys. The Luddite Fallacy is the belief that machines permanently eliminate work. It has been disproven every time a new technology wave hit. The printing press. The industrial revolution. The internet.
I believe this time will be no different.
But here’s the part the headlines miss.
The net number is not the problem.
The speed is.
22% of all jobs will structurally change. The person losing a clerical role is rarely the same person who can step into a green energy or AI-adjacent role. And 63% of employers already say skills gaps are their #1 barrier to moving forward.
We will likely have more jobs by 2030.
But the transition will be brutal for anyone who waits.
The bottleneck isn’t opportunity. It’s speed. It’s skill mismatch. It’s organizations that are still debating whether AI is real while their workforce falls behind.
You must reengineer the core workflows in your business. Then invest in reskilling. Redesign how humans and machines work together now. Build the skills bridge before the gap becomes too large.
The disruption isn’t arriving. It’s already here. In every workflow in your organziation.
The barrier is little more than the cost of a monthly subscription.
