AI just saved me hours.
And I had time to post about it within the work timeframe I gave myself on Sunday. (and create a visual with Gemini).
I had two important pieces of writing to complete. One Analytical. The other personal. And I had a two decks to update for the week.
With my tone and my thoughts, I used Perplexity Computer (the new harness that can bring together many tasks with context to create reliable outcomes), to get a first draft of the two pieces of writing.
The Analytical piece took a few edits. But the formatting was perfect. And because of the context I was able to give it, the recommendations were exactly what I wanted to say.
What context did I give it: Two previous whitepapers I had co-written, A policy brief (I made with NotebookLM form 73 soures), a transcript from my last run (with my Plaud).
The result was near perfect and in my tone (because I pointed to a canon of writing I’ve already done).
The Personal piece required some back and forth. How much. ultimately Calude (Sonnet 4.6) helped me tailor the piece. I used my original thinking from another transcript that I spouted out on a run, got to two drafts, argued back and forth on how much context to include without ruining the narrative (I have a tendency to put too much content into a single piece), and then get to a final draft in my tone that was personalized, adhered to the word length, and had just enough content/context.
Okay maybe it has a bit more context than Claude suggested, but I disagreed and put that last paragraph in anyway. 🙂
The two decks – I have the baseline in three different decks already. I needed to update them, personalize them for the client, and get a first draft of the new slides required. What I thought was going to take me hours, Perplexity Computer shaved it down to a 20-minute exercise. I have the draft of the new slides (following our brand standards). I’ll put those in later this week and no doubt add some visual flair but the heavy lift is done. The last 10% is all that remains.
This morning, I got to watch my Daughter play a hardnosed champions morning game (she scored the opening goal in a 4-3 win), go to our ritualized breakfast.
Come to the office for a little under two hours. Crank out four major pieces of work.
Now I’m headed back home to hang out with my youngest (and get a long run in).
