High Performers Follow A Simple Formula

High Performers follow a simple formula.

For success in their profession and in their personal life.

Do what takes no talent: Show up, be curious, keep your promises, and be kind. (Thanks for the reminder Jon McGinley)

Then, Identify where you want to go in this world.

Dissect the skills, find the areas for improvement/amplification, spaced repetition of skills at the edge of your abilities with close proximity to a coach. (Thank you Colleen Baxter and Lisa Haydon MBA CEC for your guidance on how to show up).

Then anchor the Battle Rhythm.

Set the tone for the week. Identify the big rocks you are focused on. Block your time accordingly. (One of the many important lesson dad (Merv Symes) taught me was you execute and show others what is important by where you spend your time, not what you say).

Start every day with your why.

And follow the Ivy Lee method – List the 6 outcomes you’re going going to accomplish today in order. Don’t end the day until they are done.

Reset and recalibrate every 90 days. It’s a direction not a prison sentence. It’s about continuously defining and refining your best life (Another mentor Wayne Crawley FCPA, FCA reminds me of this every week).

And then are you nurturing the relationships that matter in support of that best life?

Most of all, find the moments that matter with the relationships that matter and schedule those. You have less time than you think. And, my mentor Warren Rustand, said “no success in the professional world makes up for a lack of success at home.”

Happy Family Day Everyone.
