Happy Canada Day.
Most of us in this country have won the ovarian lottery. We are part of the 2bn (out of 8bn) that live in a democracy (fueled by capitalism and supported by a safety net).
We’re not perfect. No Nation is.
We have the opportunity to do something quite special with our new place in the world.
And it will be up to us to reinforce the counterbalancing power structures that make this country incredible – The Judicial, the Bureacracy, The Political, The media, and the Business world.
They all of their place.
And the uncomfortable conversation that takes place between the five structures – laws, regulations, social movement, accountability, and innovation – is such a tremendous source of forward momemtum.
Uneven, and at times uncomfortable.
But as a rational optimist there has never been a better time to be alive. And there are very few countries that offer what ours does.
let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
let’s continue to show up for eachother and in service of this grand experiment called Canada.
