I didn’t know there were going to be 500+ people in the room.
When Becky Davison, MBA, PMP asked me to speak at the Halifax Chamber of Commerce Spring Dinner on AI, it was an immediate yes.
I’m in the middle of 32 AI keynotes or workshops over a 60 day period.
When I’m not in front of groups helping to connect the dots, I’m working with enterprise leaders and their organizations as they contend with this shift. When I’m not there, I’m working with how our own portfolio contends with the same opportunity. And when I’m not there, I get the opportunity of helping 90-120 small business owners through integrating AI in our 12 month strategic cohorts at Levership
This is not an IT transformation. AI is NOT a tool. It is going to fundamentally change the future of work (and the future of humanity).
The speed of change is dizzying.
The IMF said in January that 60% of jobs in advanced economies will materially change in the next 24-36 months.
The WEF believes we will lose 92 million jobs and gain 170m+ jobs.
They are saying the same thing. AI will not replace people. But people who use AI will replace those who don’t.
The biggest change? We will move from doing the work to conducting the work.
We will move from individual contributors to choreographers of work.
And leaders of all sizes are left with this 4D matrix to navigate. What do you do when you have knowledge on top? Access to unmetered intelligence? What do we do with privacy and security? How do we maintain human mastery in a world of automatic answers? Is it making us stupid? Where can we win on the arbitrage? How will it redefine markets?
We must answer all of those questions and more. And the answers, to the same questions, are dramatically different in different organizations.
Society moves at the speed of social license not at the capability of the technology. We have much to navigate as leaders and as regions.
All of this began because of what Becky saw in April of 2023 when I offered an AI for Small Business Webinar for 43 local leaders. She challenged me to create a full day accelerator workshop to help the businesses
Since then we’ve partnered with the Food and Beverage Atlantic, the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce , The The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton | La Chambre de commerce pour le Grand Moncton, the Bridgewater Area Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, Opportunities New Brunswick, The Roadbuilder’s Association in NB, and many others. We many more coming up over the next 12 months.
