Dogs Don’t Bark At Parked Cars

Core belief: This world is built by those who show up every day to make it better.

For 13 years, that’s been our north star at Symplicity Designs.

The evidence: → 50m in revenue generated → 1bn+ in savings unlocked for clients
→ 4.5m+ given back through low bono, pro bono, and cash → An engine of prosperity for Atlantic Canada

I’m stubbornly agnostic. We lose business because of it.

Critics point to every mistake and misstep.

But as Frank McKenna said: “Dogs don’t bark at parked cars.”

We tend to cut our tall poppies in Atlantic Canada. Cancel culture and vigilante justice dominate social media.

Skepticism is in vogue.

Under our hood at Symplicity? People who care for each other, support through mistakes, and get a little less wrong each day.

Just yesterday, one of our senior leaders, at our weekly highlight meeting, said:

“Sometimes we forget how fortunate we are to work in an organization where mistakes are so quickly turned into communal lessons and how quickly we move forward. Just last week, I made a massive calculation error. There was no chastising. I didn’t even worry for a minute about hiding that mistake. And in the afternoon, we moved forward with the new calcs and all of us had a better understanding.”

This region needs more believers. More people dedicated to a cause.

More people in the arena, celebrating others in the arena as well.

We’re in the arena with you.

Don’t lose that optimism.

Don’t lose that faith.

Partnership with like-minded leaders is our mission.

It is the Pragmatic Optimists that build (and rebuild) regions.
