Anybody Who Reduces My Stress Becomes Invaluable To Me

The most important attribute of the best employees?

It’s not IQ, work ethic, a willingness to learn, grit, team player… etc…

That’s all important but according to Mark Cuban it is this:

“The people that tend to work for me a long time not only are smart, not only are driven, not only are learners.

They understand that the greatest value you can offer a boss is to reduce their stress. The people who tend to think that they are invaluable are typically the ones who create the most stress by creating firestorms and creating drama and making things more difficult for me.

Anybody who reduces my stress becomes invaluable to me. I never want to get rid of them.”

And I can tell you with 100% certainty he is right.

Wayne Crawley put it bluntly when I was assessing a business partnership a few years ago.

1. Do they make your life better?

2. Do they make you more money? (so you can reinvest it)

And I have found there is a third questions that is a leading indicator to this:

3. Do the customers rave about their interactions with them?

People who do real stuff in this world. People who lead.

They know that if you take care of those three things – alleviating stress, increasing the return, and creating raving fans – that they are invaluable!

The best people in all the organizations I’m a partner in or help guide do this intentionally.

Are you doing that?
