Last Friday, I had the privilege of spending the day with business leaders for AI in the Workplace with the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton.
I want to share the one thing from the session that I see land the hardest, every single time.
Most people think about AI as a tool. Something you open, type into, and close.
But that’s the wrong mental model, and it’s why most people aren’t getting real value from it.
It is more like a teammate (and even a crew) that can work on the 80%. I’m choreographing the crew.
Think about it this way: 10 – 80 – 10.
10% is your job upfront. The context, the direction, the judgement about what actually needs to get done.
80% is AI doing the heavy lifting in the middle.
10% is your job at the end. Review, refine, own the output.
The leaders who get the most from AI aren’t the ones using it the most. They’re the ones who’ve stopped fighting the 80% and started protecting the 10s.
You don’t need a massive budget to lead with AI.
But you do need clarity.
Clarity in what you’re building.
Clarity on how you do the work.
And then you can put the right sequence of work together and have both assistive and agentic AI work with and for you.
That’s what we’re here to spread, one room at a time.
